The Fresno Metropolitan Museum's home in the historic Fresno Bee Building in downtown Fresno, California is currently undergoing its first renovation in more than a quarter-century.
The renovation is expected to be completed in late 2007. During the renovation, the Met's programming and exhibitions are being held throughout the greater Fresno area, and its popular Reeves ASK Science Center is located off-site at 933 Van Ness (at Tulare Street) in downtown Fresno.

The Fresno Metropolitan Museum's Reeves ASK Science Center features a selection of hands-on and interactive science exhibits developed through a partnership with San Francisco's Exploratorium. The current set of exhibits, entitled Earth, Wind, Inspire! explore earth science themes, allowing visitors to create waves to mimic a landslide, control a geyser and even interrupt the flow of a raging tornado.

frankly the whole huge remodel has been a huge disappointment. they hacked off the front of the building and took away the most charming aspect...the front courtyard and entrance...and i've yet to see anything inside that impresses me, building-wise. oh maybe the bathrooms. those are cool. but sheesh, what'd all the money go into? because i was expecting some really cool stuff and its just not there.

i wish they'd stick to bringing in other people's exhibits because those seem to be done quite well. the current bob the builder exhibit is a good example...and the science center of the past when it was all exploratorium stuff was way cool. but its gone now. now, i don't know who's set up that bottom floor but its just plain disappointing and dull. :(

unfortunately the science center is nothing like it was. gone are the cool exploratorium exhibits, and in its place are incredible boring things which my kids have no real interest in and frankly neither do i.

this is how I remember the Museum... but I'm going to have to post some behind the scenes raw footage I taped from 1995 when I had free roam of the place from the storage basement to the rooftop.
