Me and My grandpa used to mute the tv and listen to Ernie call the games because now one could do it better that is one of my fondest memories of me and my grandpa and thanks to Ernie Harwell I will never forget those days. God Bless you ernie and condolence to your entire family.

For the rest of the country who never got to hear Ernie's sweet southern drawl late in the evening during the summer, you missed the most wonderful voice ever in baseball. I was lucky to hear him many times growing up from 1960 on. This was a one of a kind person whom every Tiger fan loved. He was our Ernie and how lucky we were that he was.

I remember when Phil Rizzuto passed away how much us Yankee fans mourned so the Michigan fans who rooted and listen to the Tigers are probably mourning just as much...I never knew nor had a chance to listen to Mr. Harwell much only from afar, but I can sympathized with every Tigers fan who has that he'll be remembered not so much missed but will be in the hearts of every Detroit Tiger and baseball fans everywhere. What a voice for the game.

the one word I have read in every description of Ernie is "gentleman"... what a wonderful way to remember him...

I really feel like I just lost one of my closest friends. R.I.P. Ernie
you were and will always be a CLASS ACT!!!!
This man has lived his entire life as a testament to how a man should live. Absolute class, humility, and love for his fellow man. God Bless you Ernie, I just hope you have received as many blessings as you have given to so many over the years. Thanks!

He is the classiest man I have ever met, and the sports world will be so much poorer without him.
