So many different views on painting paneling. I have to undertake this project, but I'm in a nasty debate with a family member whether to calk or not calk. I just don't want to do the extra work!
Im moving into a modular with nasty wood paneling and was thinking of filling in the grooves first...you mentioned it was a hassle...have you ever tried it?? I like the the finished look of your walls...we are also adding the crown molding to the top , if you have plastered paneling and then painted...does it look decent?

@gentryfy I have never tried filling the grooves, but honestly can't imagine the work!! Yikes.
Yeah i think it will look good. I get so many compliments on it. They can't believe there use to be wood paneling.

wow it turned out great. Do you have to sand it first?
DrayButt 11 months ago
@DrayButt Nope. No sanding. I ending up finding a Kilz primer that has the sanding effect in it .Well worth the money.

To answer a few questions-
I used Kilz primer then paint. I did no6t fill in the lines. I had watched a few videos on painting over wood paneling and knew that filling in the lines was just too much of a hassle.
There is only studs behind my walls which is why we decided not to take down the wood paneling for now.
