WLIN Fox 12 freelance reporter Aeverine Nieves (also freelancing at our sister station, WTOR CBS 41/WXXC INNCD 47 in Fort Wayne and creator of Queen of the Willis) is caught on audiotape by her nephew over a dispute at a local cable company that decided to drop her favorite stations.
The nephew recorded the conversation without Ms. Nieves' permission and sold it to the competitor of our Fort Wayne sister station (NO SIR GIFTS removed that clip at the request of WMRI-FTV (Channel 9, ABC) even though ATE Media owns WMRI).
The following day at the time of FOX 12 News at 7, Queen of the Willis was pulled from WLIN's (as well as other NSG owned stations) schedules for the foreseeable future pending an investigation.
Almost three months later, WMRI-FTV (Channel 9, ABC) was fined $250,000 for invasion of privacy. The nephew, 21-year-old Weasel Zinn, has been charged for wiretapping.
