Here is some footage from a June 2001 Sunday in São Paulo, with ordinary people, downtown, Liberdade (Japan town), soccer fever, evangelical Christians, street musicians/performers, sleaze district, prostitutes, the homeless, etc. The most hilarious part is that of a Japanese-Brazilian man in a public square, bursting spontaneously into dance—which later morphs into martial art moves—all to atrocious Christian pop!
(Music soundtrack by Adriana Calcanhotto, Cesaria Evora, Jerry Mulligan, Jane Duboc, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil.)

  • @GustavoRiera89 Crise econômica??? Faziam então apenas cerca de 6 anos que o plano real tinha tirado o país de seu fosso histórico e lançado as bases para tempos mais promissores. Ao contrário, penso que era uma época de esperanças.

  • Brazil still suffers from the mentality of low self esteem do to two decades of economic cultural and moral decline so the majority still hold a colonial mentality. The mentalty of the people is changeing for the better but it will take a long time if Brazil had the same self esteem like Israel it would be totaly diffrent country.
