We enjoyed Powers Annual #1. It does a good job as any annual should of telling a good story that stands alone, while being part of the current story line.
Then we check out Locke & Key #3 which we all really liked. It's really well written and horrifying without being overly blood-spattered. Plus, the artwork is top notch. Iron Man: Legacy of Doom #1 gets a 2 out of 3. Justin's just not on board because of "schlockiness". And that's exactly why Alex liked it - it's old school and feels like an old comic. Then in the Speed Round we've got Green Lantern Corps #23, Scud: The Disposable Assassin #23, Criminal #2, Suburban Glamour #4 and Echo #2. Rounding out this edition of The Stack Alex gets back to you with answers to viewer mail.

  • On the movie, comic thing one could call a between the Metal Gear "comic" on the PSP. It had both standard comic, movie efffects and voices to tell the story.

I would love to see more of those tbh.

  • Movies and comics are different mediums. They should deal with their content with that in mind.

Having said that: Comic book movies need to be more like comic books! Who wants a boring Hulk movie? Who wants Batman to have a love interest? Who wants Spider-Man to fight 4 or 5 villians in one movie? Stupid producers, that's who!

    No one else!

  • I'm with alan moore on the line between comics and movies.

Comics really should be respected as their own medium of art and should be approached such. There are many nuances of character development and storylines that can't be expressed in film like comics. If a comic artist is influenced by film, go with it. But, I like comics for what they are.

  • I think that the way comics really take the time to flesh out their characters and develop a storyline would be sullied if we tried to make them more like movies... Movies and comics are both great things, but not meant to be intercorrelated in a storytelling sense.

  • cool cool awesome! thanks man!

  • I think "Creepshow" is one of the best movies made to look like a comic book it's not even a superhero one. It also sparked a lot of renewed interest in EC horror comics, which led to the television series, so it was good for both industries.

  • I own a comic shop, and I have no problem selling L&K to teens.

  • Movies based on comics should definitely be more like the comics themselves. IMO, the best adaptations have been those that left behind the classic cinematic style and adopted a sort of hybrid in between comics and movies, like 300 and Sin City. Even the few exceptions liek Burton's Batman movies had a certain comiccy thing to them, don't you think?

Anyway, nice vid, as always. Good luck at the con, and I'm looking forward to your vids from there for those of us who can't go.

  • Have a blast at the NYCon! Love the reviews and the banter between you guys. And also the glimpses of new comics pages, as I don't buy as many new comics as I should (which is one reason I really appreciate y'all pointing me in the right directions). Great job, keep it up!

  • Pete is talking about the talking dolphin for a yahoo add so its esoteric
