This is a sound test of a Hohner HS 35 semi-hollow body guitar. This is an ES-335 style guitar, though much less expensive than the Gibson version. In this clip, I'm using both pickups (i.e. the middle switch setting) am going for mostly clean but slightly edgey blues sort of tone. I am recording directly into an MBox 2 and am using Line 6 Pod Farm as the guitar amp.

  • It is a Hohner. The company has been around for a long time, but are better known for their harmonicas than their guitars. I never realized until you pointed it out that there is only one letter different between Hohner and Hofner.

  • I'm not sure what the distinction is between the SE 35 and the HS 35. My HS 35 was made in Korea - maybe the SE was made somewhere else? At any rate, you're right - great guitar for the money.

  • im a little confused, the trademark is hohner or hofner?

  • Mine was also made in Korea. It appears the SE35 was before the HS35. Maybe they just changed the model number?.?.?. But yep, great guitar for the money!

  • I pretty much have this exact guitar, except mine is an SE 35. Do you know what the difference is? Spruce top? Mahogany neck? Mine has a maple neck and maple top. Either way, they are great guitars!
