Just kidding on the grinder but well said. there is ao much free stuff around the house and real cheap at the local flea markets and thrift stores / good will.
Just use any hard field rock. Hit it with something hard and heavy and it will break into sharp pieces. If you really want to buy something, buy cheap flint replica arrowheads that are made in mexico or china. U can get them cheaper than flakes of flint sold for flint and steel.
@SrJoben In case you haven't found any yet, try your local crafting supplies store. Micheal's craft store near my house doesn't sell flint, but they do sell quartz, which will work also.
