  • will it pass xray tho

  • If the original cast will pass (most will not) then a weld done correctly will pass.

It most certainly pass better than brazing or a NI rod using an arc, The only rival is TIG and then the base metal must be clean and no oil (almost impossible with used cast iron) therefore this is one of the best methods to repair cast iron without replacement of the part, If that is possible as most CI welded is from parts that are unavailable as new,Like early 1900's cast engine or tractor parts

  • Cast Iron is one of the more difficult metals to weld since it has a random grain structure, Dependent on the rod you use it could be a difficult to work weld or a difficult to find repaiar but overall it s one of the best methods fo cast iron repair that is machinable and ductile but strong.

  • nothing like safety, where are the gloves?

  • Very nice. What effect does this process have on the grain structure of the cast iron? Does it harden it, soften it, make it more brittle, add stress?
