This is a base Debian sarge setup, with no GUI or other non-essential apps loaded. This is what I use as the base for all my Debian builds, then pile the applications on top of it. This is the first in a series of videos on how to setup Debian to perform specific functions (i.e. web server, proxy server, etc.). I'm primarily doing this to help demystify Debian as being difficult to setup, and administer.

  • The year was 2006 but debian text based installer is same :)

  • Debian is great ! thanks for video...

  • somewhat similar to windows installation :D ill give Debian a try

  • Thankyou very much this video is very helpful. I know my way around computers so I didn't exactly need a guide, but I am still experimenting with Linux. I used Suse 10.1 for a long time which was great but Ati hates it which causes problems and I couldn't update the kernel or install VMware despite every guide on the net.
