This really feels like an issue I need to be further educated on. What is happening to you feels like an injustice. What would it take for you to become a citizen?

My parents have petitioned for my residency (that was last year) and so I will be a resident in about 4 years. Then I have to be a resident for about 5 years before I can apply for citizenship and go through that process. I'm lucky. Many undocumented immigrants don't have anything to look forward to, they're just in limbo. -julian

The laws vary by country, they are not all the same for everyone. We couldn't start any process right away, you don't think we'd be waiting in the line if there was one? Not everyone has that choice. Thankfully I am finally entering the process after 18 years and I will be a resident in about 4 years, but not everyone that is undocumented has that chance. -julian

'Invaded' is EXACTLY the correct word. I don't know who your sources are, but you are extremely misinformed. It was nothing short of a conquest. Reservations were concentration camps. Until enough people acknowledge the blatant genocide, slavery, torture, and oppression of indigenous peoples that took place, this country will not learn from history. Look for more diverse sources, ones NOT written by the victors. You will get a very different story, a much more accurate story.

I agree 100%, especially with your last sentence. I'm Native American, and I'm for immigration. If all the Native Americans in the US had the power of the government and maintained such rigid and unjust immigration laws, there wouldn't be many folks left in this country.  But we're not like that. For the descendants of immigrants to be so unjust to today's immigrants is gross hypocrisy.

Invade is not the correct word usage. The majority of the natives died from plagues by viruses and bacteria brought over by the settlers that was foreign to the natives immune system. The majority of the natives were wiped out before 1776 when the United States was established. Yes there were wars, but there was no invasion and the reservations were not considered American soil. I would give you links, but YouTube doesn't allow them.
