Asteroid Explorer HAYABUSA, which was launched on May 9, 2003, accelerated by earth swing-by in May 2004, and arrived at its final destination of the Itokawa asteroid. On November 20 and 26, HAYABUSA conducted a total of three touchdowns and a landing on the Itokawa. HAYABUSA is now under operations for its return to the Earth in 2010.
