@furseiseki But liberals are apologists by nature. We understand that humans have flaws and foibles, and allow that. The right wing smear machine sees that only as weakness. Empathy has no place in their world of politics. Kennedy is still viewed by most conservatives as a bastion of liberalism, even though he wasn't, and allowing a factually inaccurate character smear takes away a symbol. To paraphrase Batman, "People need symbols" - and the left as much as anyone because of Obama's weakness.

@undeadpresident Unfortunately we in this part of the world tend to benefit from warmongering and U.S. imperialism(even when many of us dislike it) so I don't imagine things will change. Its the same with climate change denial. We benefit so much from the evil oil companies that I see no real way to change things.
