Have you ever tried making a stove using a smaller top opening? Like one inch? I have found that the most efficient way to boil water was to use 1/2 cup at a time (more than enough to prepare most foods) and to use a pan made out of extremely thin aluminum with a well fitting top which allows a small amount of air escape. Take the pan turn it upside down and get some type of tool that can make the bottom of the pan convex. Flame and heat is trapped a bit this way.
