Denmark has some of the highest taxes in the world. So a lf the government legalize marihuana you would probaly pay 99% of the price in taxes when you buy it. A pretty good deal for the economy. Also the fact that no one has died from smoking marihuana (expcept from traffick accidents) and that more than 20 people has been killed in the gangwar since the police closed the old Pusherstreet. Politicians always have one overall goal: to keep the power !! The people has to make the change !!

@amvinther As long as the poor people use all their energy on criticizing each other, the poor will remain poor and the rich will remain rich. Its a shame that you are so unintelligent and blind that you cant see that the world is bankrupt because of greed from banks and irresponsible use of home equity and savings by the population. You should read books and newspapers if you want to know how economy works and don't bother the rest of the world with your prejudice and negative mind patterns !!

I think this concept is greatly misunderstood. As much as I love to smoke, Christiania has much more at stake then pot. This is the perfect example that business and markets don't need surplus value to run an economy. This, in a sense, was Karl Marx's dream and now the forces that he activated are destroying the ideology that makes this area so great. Peace and love.

I have been visiting Christiania regularly since 1980. They have always said it is getting shut down,but it never has. Now Christiania's biggest trump card is that alot of vegetation and wildlife that is native to Denmark is only still found in Christiania. So,you tear down Christiania for high rent condo's and you lose the natural habitat. Christiania is not going anywhere. Bevar Christiania!!!!!!!

J'y étais il y a maintenant 3 ans... C'est un endroit de verdure magnifique, écologique avec des personnes formidables qui tentent de vivre simplement "d'amour et d'eau fraîche". Pas de surconsommation polluante et d'économie-arnaque.  J'espère y retourner un jour et admirer plus attentivement les créations artistiques. Merci pour votre accueil... Gros bisous de France.

I live in America and I'd do anything to have a place to live such as Christiania! I'm so tired of living in a place where the government controls everything! People in Christiania seem very friendly and non judgemental! That's how the world should be......a beautiful friendly atmosphere to enjoy for the rest of our lives! Narrow minded and judgemental people should come down from their high horses and mellow out!

Before anyone critizises, remember this is someone's home you're looking at... sure it may not be up your ally, but who in the world cares if it IS up your ally? No one in here, I can assure you.. Christiania is a wonderful place, I am fortunate that I am Danish, so I can visit whenever I want - I kan ikke slå os ihjel ;) peace..

@amvinther the ppl that live there seem hard working ppl to me they build there own society own schools they all work for themselfs i think its actually better then be this slave for society and corrupt politics and i think these ppl are probably peacefull iff u can live with that no worries about taxes or affraid for this and that thats all we do man fear for laws and governments policestates... i think these ppl chose the way life should be not this fabrication we live in being fed with lies
