  • If the Right was really interested in creating jobs, they would increase spending, especially on infrastructure and education. This formula has been shown to work throughout history, and to help pay for it, cut the military budget some, and increase taxes--primarily on the wealthy. Clinton did this, and we saw the result. Tax cuts on the other hand, have shown to have little to no effect on the economy--but they do blow a hole in the budget.

  • I love Bill Maher... he is certainly one of the most educated, reasonable people on television today.

  • There is no one I would rather hate-fuck than Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Well, maybe Megyn Kelly...

  • Double standard much Maher. You made a career out of humiliating George Bush in front of the world. Maher is Obama's Head Cheerleading queer.

  • republicans are the scum of the earth, they have no dignity

  • we do not have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem. not enough coming in..when your country needs you the most the wealthy want to give the least, how american is that

  • @papitosabe "but thx for replying". Thanks for the civil discourse. Enjoy your supper.

  • @DandAinTac reps and dems are the same in the spending aspect..I happen to like RP.. gotta cook supper...sorry..but thx for replying..will try and read the rest..

  • @DandAinTac so what do you think about public education today? we're almost last.. so its time for something different, imo...I say get the gov't out...lets try free market, give discounts to those who want it...and we def need to get out of the college education system...prices way too high, and the education sucks unless you're rich..

  • @papitosabe "puts the burden on the young for the future" Last post for now--I promise. First of all, this is not necessarily true. Let's take those millionaires up on their offer, and we won't have to borrow. Second, sometimes spending benefits future generations. I see no problem with borrowing to help pay for roads and bridges our kids will be driving on as adults, and that will help their parents have jobs in the present.

  • @papitosabe (spending continued)...in 2008, and Obama took office, every reputable economist was warning him that he had to increase spending dramatically to keep the US from falling into another Great Depression. Spending needs to happen to keep money circulating. Taxing and spending is what governments do. Is there such a thing as "wasteful spending"? Wasteful spending: building a school in Iraq. Good spending = building a school in the US.
