A short video on how to prepare a Live Steam locomotive. This includes filling the boiler, topping up the oil and basic operation to get it running. The engine used is an A4 4-6-2, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

  • hi

i have just bought that loco

how much oil do you put in?

    and how much distilled water?

    thanks

  • The Instruction manual is a little vague -

For each steaming, fill the tender right up until the water comes out of the overflow. Put the needle right into the tender too, otherwise none will go in. For the purposes of the video, I only showed the second syringe.

Oil varies - the amoun they reccoment is fine for the first 'steaming', but after that, it only needs topping up after every couple of runs.

    Hope this helps.
