It's not impossible. I did it.
Lol it was so weird making this video. I didn't think at all what to say before I recorded it so it's a bit hard to understand :D and what i didn't get with the camera was propably "chuuden"? or something :D the thing u use to load the battery!
So. I'm 17-year-old high school student from Finland and I learnt my Japanese with anime (and I'm now having a trip in Japan)! Of course I make mistakes all the time when I'm speaking in Japanese, but it's the same in English lol.
You can do it. You can learn Japanese with anime. You just need to concentrate enough, THINK about what they're saying and so on.
I first didn't have any intention to learn Japanese... but I just learnt lol. It wasn't very hard to learn to speak like this, but I've still got a way to go to be fluent.
I cannot translate or completely understand what she says,BUT, ive heard the words and phrases so many times that i do not feel completly lost as to what she is trying to connvey. What does that tell about me,or anyone else by that matter regarding the knowledge of japanese? (I also learn japanese by watching anime and videogames)

I understood everything you just said in japanese without subtitles or anything.
When I was small (About 10 years ago? I was about 10 years old) I was a heavy TV watcher. But the thing was that I looked at German TV, where cartoons were aired (And Anime's as well. I got my torque from there.).. When I stopped watching those German dubbed cartoons, I could understand everything that my german friends talked about.
Only the talking in the language yourself is hard, but understanding is important.

It's just natural that her pronunciation is good because she seems Finnish.

@Senshi2k6 Japanese is the same in the most situations as well. And they use honorifics and polite language in Shonen. You read enough and you see it all the time. It won't make you sound like a tough teenage male that's ridiculous. Once you're fluent you can easily sound however you want. When I moved to America, I listened to a lot of gangster rap, and learned a lot of words. Do I sound like a gangster? No, not in the least bit.
