Plug time, , , If you don't already own Dan Fogelberg's 1st record "Home Free" I HIGHLY recommend you get it. I first heard it on an FM station late one night and fell in love with "that" voice, "those" songs, , , a magical recording. This is my attempt to do one of those songs "Stars" justice as an instrumental. The instruments include a McPherson guitar and an Ibanez mandolin. The scenes of Dan are from his "Greetings From The West" concert video and photos from his albums "Souvenirs" "Captured Angel' and "Phoenix".

Dan, , , I know your singing with the angels now and what beautiful music that must be. I know your spirit remains so strong here among your fans. We'll see you soon.

It was the very first song of Dan's I ever heard; was it your very first as well? There is something magical about that song...

Actually as I recall a local FM station down here in Mobile, AL used to play entire newly released albums on a certain night and that's when I first heard Dan's "Home Free". I got out and found it as soon as I could, such a great record, to me Dan's voice changed as he grew older and on that first album his voice was stunning.

Finally got to hear your new version, Scott!!! Love it, of course!!! Love the images just as much!! Great job on this amazing song that had me hook, line and sinker for Dan from the moment I first heard it.

Now I just have to get to your other new posts, not enough time in the day!!

Thank you M. I'm pleased the way this turned out. Try plugging in earphones to hear the audio as I've just started to discover what a great difference it makes. I recall hearing "Stars" for the 1st time as well, I love that whole album so much. Love "To the Morning" and "Hickory Grove" in particular.

I remember running to the record store, too, as soon as I learned his name! I'll try the headphones; they always do make a difference in hearing the textures of songs. It's true, Dan voice changed over the years for various reasons. All good, but I do love those first sweet-voiced early albums. I also really love To The Morning. I find that the lyrics of Hickory Grove and Song from Half Mountain are very prophetic, especially the latter one. Have you noticed?

I would loved to had Alison sing this song with a younger Dan! It would had been awesome! Dan singing this alone was awesome enough!
