Joe Bageant discusses the corporate media-fabricated bubble of hyper-propaganda that Americans perceive as the real world, the Stockholm syndrome of the soul by which we identify with the ideologies of our captors and align ourselves against our own interests, and what this snow globe of a society looks like from the outside. This clip closes with an eloquent insight from C-Realm host KMO. This video contains excerpts from the C-Realm Podcast, the full interview can be found at the link below.

  • the video has some comments and observations. I am tempted to trace much of this sea change to the R. Reagan admin. I can remember when I might have disagreed with Republicans but did not consider them to be either idiots or traitors to the Constitution. There is NO doubt in my mind that the Tea Bagger movement was COOKED UP in the meeting rooms of a K-street consulting firm. This 'movement' embodies what the GOP has become and it is downright UN-American, bigoted and dangerous.

  • Joe Bageant- the best social commentator in America. I read "Deer Hunting with Jesus" and for me at least -nobody else quite explains the current system of social control so concisely and eloquently.

  • See you in the quantum world Joe!

  • The US is a strange place thats for sure,

  • @NoPartyAffilliation You're right about talk radio. I have spent my life in broadcasting as a major market newscaster, news director and --often --a network correspondent. My credits include ABC Radio and TV (I was employed by ABC at the ABC owned and operated facility in Houston (the nation's fifth market at the time) and, later, News Director for highly rated AM/FM facilities in Houston. I saw the media begin to lose all credibility with Reagan 'de-regulation', i.e, license to lie and steal.

  • @NoPartyAffilliation A related issue --GOV Rick Perry (R-TX) is considering a run for PRESIDENT!! I would not vote for Rick Perry for dog catcher. Perry presided over burgeoning prison populations due --no doubt --to the Bush/Perry neglect of Texas education! As a result --crime rates rose; Dallas was called the nation's murder capital. Who benefits?? The CORPORATE OWNED PRISIONS! Perry should be LOCKED UP --not made 'Governor'.

  • @lennhart I totally agree with you, I remember when being Democrat or Republican people weren't at each others throats as they are today. I guess they followed one of the golden rules of not talking about politics and religion? I don't know. I think conservative talk radio really started this mess. I think in a few more years, if you call yourself a liberal, you will have a mark on your head. I think this is the sad truth. Sort of a McCarthyism on steroids.

  • Never heard of the guy before, but this is exactly what I think that many Americans are like. I never been to the US, I could not stomach it.

  • joe b. is awesome-- his books are awesome

  • Capitalism is the optimized process of redistributing wealth from production and profits towards minority consolidation by, for and of unelected elites comprising the ruling and ownership/control class. Basically, the inherant truth Bageant is speaking of. He has recently written of a serious illness he has; Wishing him strength and recovery -- today we NEED such wise, impassioned voices of reason and heart as much as we ever did, possibly even more, as we face the horrors of dark, evil forces.
