This is a video dedicated to the 2009 Masterpiece Theatre adaptation of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights". While it's not perfect and takes a lot of liberties, I enjoyed it very much. The locations, music and costuming were fantastic and the acting was excellent. This video is specifically concerned with the relationships between Cathy (Charlotte Riley) and Heathcliff (Tom Hardy), and with the younger Catherine (Rebecca Night) and Hareton (Andrew Hawley) in the second generation. The relationships have similarities but also contrasts. While Heathcliff has decided to wreck havoc and revenge after the death of Cathy, he watches his work become undone as Hareton, the son of Hindley whom Heathcliff raises in hatred, and Catherine, daughter of his love Cathy and his enemy, Edgar Linton, fall in love and he sees in them what he once had long ago. So in a way, Catherine and Hareton represent what might have been if fate, pride and society hadn't separated Heathcliff and Cathy, and ultimately the younger generation manages to break the cycle of their forbears. Again, my apologies for the poor quality of the clips. I used the traditional Celtic folk song "Black Is The Color" performed here by The Corrs. Hope you like it!
