  • girardi new assistant captain next year

  • Andrew Ladd is one of the classiest players in the NHL.

  • @fargas28 I think the reason he stopped was actually because he hurt his hand. Missed the next game because of this fight. It was an unfortunate hit and Ladd isn't that type of player. Giradi wouldn't let him go and Ladd knew it so he dropped the gloves.

Also, very good fight. Some big shots landed.

  • Whats that demonic screaming towards the end of the clip?

  • @kcocgibkcusuoy "It's also very easy for a guy to just fold up shop ... near the boards."

I agree, I'm a Ranger fan and a big Staal fan; I don't want this play called for boarding. I want there to be an aggressive pursuit of the puck. While It's technically boarding, It generally isn't called - I Love it that way.

" I'm not saying that's what Staal did"

It isn't. Look at Ladd's hands(56-57) throughout the contact. They were placed high and pushed Staal through his center of gravity.

It's also very easy for a guy to just fold up shop when the gets contact near the boards. I'm not saying that's what Staal did, but he's always looked a lot stronger on his skates than that...

  • Respect to Ladd.

I'm a Ranger fan and kudos to him for not continuing after he broke Girardi's nose. Classsy move. Didn't think the check on Staal was dirty either, just an unfortunate angle that Staal fell, clean shoulder to shoulder, just like Staal's hit on Stajan earlier this year.

  • Ladd's intent was not to hurt and I don't want this kind of hit to be called because I love Hockey, not soccer on ice.

Don't tell me it'a a clean legal hit.

Boarding – A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player or goalkeeper who checks an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards..... The onus is on the player applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a vulnerable position and if so, he must avoid the contact

  • good for giradi stiking up for staal

  • Win by Ladd. Good effort by Girardi for a guy that doesn't fight too often. Ladd's tough. Hit was pretty clean, just the way he got spun into the boards after the hit...good Welland boy sticking up for his team mate.
