After being devastated by two hurricanes in recent years, Cameron Parish residents have experiences prolonged anxiety, stress, and depression. In an effort to create a sense of hope for the future of their parish's communities, Cameron parish 4-H Jr. Leader members worked with the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival Board and senior residents of the communities to collect stories describing the history of the parish's festival and industries that helped establish the parish as a thriving community between the years of 1957 and 1990.

  • I was a deputy in Cameron for awhile before I moved back to Alabama. The fur festival for these years have been etched into my brain and I miss the people there and think of Cameron often. Thanks for the memories. Jim Smith.
