  • Great performance. Does anyone know the maker of the soloist's violin? It sounds so beautiful.

  • its a new maker. His name is Antony Stradivar :D

  • I'm pretty positive that this piece represents neither technical nor musical difficulty to Mr. Kavakos. His technique is just superior to any living violinist.

  • @BestAmateurViolinist you're trolling right?

  • @GKJusticar55 There is a common saying among violinist about Brahms' violin concerto: "you can tell how good the soloist is just by listening to the very first 12 measures of the violin solo part!" And in my opinion, these are the cleanest, more precise, more dramatic, more beautiful in tone, and perfectly tuned first 12 measures of the violin solo part I've ever heard in my life.

  • @fullargon And why's that?

  • @BestAmateurViolinist don't pretend the expert because there maybe someone that knows! This is the Falmouth 1691 Strad. Kavakos perchased for first time the "Turin Guadagnini 1780" in 2008 and performed with it for first time in Rheingau, Budapest.

Watch Kavakos playing Dvorak, this one is the Guadagnini

  • I TOTALLY agree!!!!

  • @DrLuu1972

I can identify it by sight here: it's a G.B. Guadagnini. I can't tell the period without seeing the f-holes straight-on. Guadagnini had 5 periods based upon the cities where he lived, his Cremonese being the shortest period. I don't see ovals in the bottoms of the f-holes, so if I had to make a conjecture, I'd say Turin, after 1780, but this is going out on a limb. My favorites are the early Guadagnini violins from Milan.

  • It's incredible how clean those double stops at the beginning of the solo violin part are!! Every time I listen to this recording I discover more an more amazing technical things about this violinist. Great tone, perfect intonation, precise tempos, beautiful musicality, etc. Definitely he has to be consider one of the great violinist of the 21st century, if not the greatest. At least he's for me :)
