@827rover Magnefine filters have a bypass feature.

i have two magnefine filters, and they've started leaking after a couple of months. Also there is no safety bypass valve. Actually they were listed under Cardone brand but have magnefine sticker. But i'm still using them after resealing with RTV, that magnet really does its job capturing all metal gunk.
