This is a movie about my dad and his 1909 Model "R" Stanley Steamer Roadster. After eight years, my husband and I took the trip to Colorado to drive the car.My family donated the car to the Stanley Museum in Estes Park Colorado, after he passed away. The car is currently a working exhibit at the Stanley museum. It seems like yesterday when we would steam through the hills around my parents home...do you remember the amazing happiness , Kelsi and Miranda?

  • that thing moves FAST for steam!!!!

  • The steam car held the world speed record for many years!

  • Thanks for the video. This is my dream car that I do not ever think I will have the chance to own. If I could choose any car in the world, it would be a Stanley. It is great to see that the car is still operated. A car stationary in a museum is no longer an automobile. Fantastic automobile.

  • It is an amazing vehicle!I have been on the 10 freeway in Los Angeles doing 65MPH with my dad! If you ever get to Estes Park during the summer tell Byron Holly told me to ask for a ride.He will know who you mean!

  • YOUR DAD MUST BE A MILLIONAR..NICE CAR

  • That is awesome, Just the sounds of it is lovely! I'd love to hear it tackle a step hill and listen to it work hard!

  • Where'd you get that whistle recording at the beginning of the clip? It's exactly that of South Simcoe Railway's # 136.

  • Great vid, super cool car, seems to accelerate faster than most internal combustion cars. Also, would anyone have information on the Bryan steam car. From what I can gather, there is only one left. It was made in Peru Indiana by Bryan Boiler Co. Any info on it's whereabouts would be apriciated.

  • The Stanley Steam-cars of the 1900s held the steam-car speed-record (127mph) for over 100 years, from 1906-2009, when it was broken by a modern modern, British-made steam-car.

  • Look on haroldwilms youtube

  • Amen.

  • It's like having your own inidividual locomotive engine--which is what it is--complete with the choo-choo sound! It sounds like the engine is simply loafing along in all applications.

  • This brings back fond memory's of my dad and i. Although i've never even seen a Stanley in real life, I too grew up around cars (Hot rods).

  • It's a beautiful car. I love the red. I don't think the speed-factor is quite THAT amazing. People tend to underestimate the power of steam. They forget that 100 years ago, steam sent great ships across the oceans and trains across countries That's a wonderful car and 65 is a decent top speed, to be sure. How did your father buy the this car? I think Stanley Steamers are cute.
