Beleive it or not it is my father singing on this song.(Not the one that sounds like helium)His name is Rod Freeman and he sadly died more than 25 years ago when i was just 7.There is a film being released in February called Telstar the Joe Meek story.I have been to an advance screening as they used three of my dads other songs and it is brilliant.Directed by Nick Moran from Lock stock and two smoking barrels and starring Con o'neill who bought Joe Meek to life in the stage play.

There is a seam of insanity running through everything meek ever did - telstar itself has a manic quality to its soundscape, melody and arrangement - the sort of tune that could flip someone flaky over the edge. tornados recordings were all pretty bonkers by todays standards but at the time they must have sounded dynamic and revolutionary. i hear a new world is a wonderful sonic experience let down today by the now laughable pinky & perky voices. but this man was a pioneer, a real genius.
