Nationalizing American oil?

I make the case of why oil should have been nationalized. It seems like we are only nationalizing failing companies, and that bothers me. We are ONLY socializing losses. the taxpayers pay for corporate losses, but executives profit off of gains. I think this is unfair and am upset with these fascist policies.


***The Venezuelan citizens still pay a minimal price for gas, and this should be noted.

I agree, plus the government would have it's own oil experts and equipment, instead of having to rely on the greedy bastards that caused the problem in the first place.

My system is not the "right" system, it's just a system where people with their money decide what sells and what doesn't.

I'm for giving states more control over what they do. Leaving the Federal Govt aside for most of the issues. 10th amendment type of stuff.

Ron Paul is about taking away ALL subsidies, not just oil ones.

@asperin I was waiting for RP to attack specific subsidies (not some BS one, but the farm subsidies) and wanted to agree with you, and then he didn't. that video is old. I'd personally like to hear him say that today and on national TV.

on the federal gov't, you have to understand the the Federalists which made up the majority of our founders wanted a strong NATIONAL gov't.

He is against ALL of them. He's consistent with his beliefs in free market economics.

Majority of the founders wanted a strong national govt... Not all.

I take from the founder's words what relates to the individualist cause and I don't religiously follow what they believed in.

What you're saying makes a lot of sense. You know what the problem is? The problem is that it's too complicated for right wingers to understand.

And before they even begin to have an open mind, and hear you out, they are pre-conditioned so that when you use the word "nationalize" or "socialist" or "government-run", they think you want to make America into Stalin's Russia.

If they can't understand it, they don't trust it. It's a shame.
