is that anything like taking an uncomplicated hypothesis and making fun of it because it mentions God?

@pezzamange I disagree. People like Stein serve a purpose. The devoutly religious aren't going to change their minds no matter what they're told about evidence. But for those who might be on the fence, Stein and people like him serve to show what kind of silly tactics you have to use to defend bad reasoning. It really helps to shape your perspective in the other direction when idiots take a stand. We need them.

Ben Stein is one of the most pointless human beings on the planet.

This was a bad movie yes but I find it telling that most of the negative reviews used terms like biased and personally motivated, etc. to discount it even though most of these reviewers give Michael Moore's documentaries (admittedly higher quality) rave reviews. Obviously a double standard. Also I'm not a fan of evolutionists discounting religion as "a fixed perspective" when everyone in the science community treats evolution like a fact and some even treat it like a religion.

@internetaccount122 Have you realized you're just putting your faith in no God?

This movie isn't just BIASED, it's flat out deceitful and it misrepresents Evolution, and abiogenesis.
You'll notice in this scene that Stein makes no distinction between abiogenesis and "Darwinism".
Furthermore "On the backs of crystals" means that DNA isn't the only self-replicating molecule in the universe.
You should also read up on the sternberg fiasco, and several of his interviewees.
I haven;t had a chance to seriously investigate, but I'm told that one ID scientist was an actor.

Abiogenesis is one of those great mysteries. I was never taught Abogenesis in school. I was taught the basic ideas of evolution, genetics and cell biology.

Science can explain it. Shoot me a PM if you want a debate, because I'll sure as hell give you one.
-
you're alive.
that's a stinking sweet miracle right there.
I would like to highlight the words 'might' and 'theory'. The latter being used in the non-scientific sense. Unlike relgion, science isn't a fixed point perspective on the Universe; it moves with the evidence.

Well, Ben Stein is taking a complicated hypothesis, and making fun of it because it mentions crystals.
