"Water on the Moon" was written by John Marmie, the NASA deputy program director for the LCROSS mission. This live performance included Emory Stagmer, LCROSS Flight Software Lead Engineer and JR Norris, Northrop Grumman Tech Services STS group director at the time of the LCROSS contract award (JR has moved on to greener pastures since then or at least less stressful ones!).
Black guitar is an Alvarez, 12 string is an Alvarez Yairi DY-76, and the bass is a Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5 acoustic fretless. All guitars actually belong to Emory :) This performance was recorded at the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant in College Park MD in the spring of 2009.
LCROSS impacted the moon on 9-oct-2009 in search of water. Preliminary estimates indicated at least 100Kg of water was detected in the resulting plume. More information on LCROSS: http://lcross.arc.nasa.gov and http://www.nasa.gov/lcross
