TOURNAMENT (Westview) The Angola varsity volleyball team dominated the Gold pool-play at Westview's volleyball Invitational this Saturday with wins over Wawasee, West Noble and Eastside high schools. Hornet's earned their way to the Championship match facing off with DIv 4-A powerhouse, Concord high school who bested Glenn, Whitko and Westview. Game#1 of the Championship was won by Angola who was lead by seniors Sam Parrish, outside hitter, Kay Shollenberger, setter and Kendra SAylor, defensive specialist. Angola traded blows with Concord in Game #2 but the Hornets' offense was shut down by the Minutemen and Angola dropped game #2 and the tournament Champions would be decided in a tie-breaker Game #3. Hornet's won a tight game 15-11 and brought home the Tournament Champion trophy for the first time in 12-years advancing their win record to 8-0. THe keys to the Hornets' success this year is the depth of the team. Angola plays State-ranked Fairfield next Tuesday in Angola at the Hornet's nest gymnasium. AHS player Sam Parrish, jersey #3 hopes to be recruited for college-ball. -A Cari Parrish Production
