Taking my 2 yr.old arabian/percheron out with the big guys (his mom and 4 yr.old brother.) Just walking, putting miles on him to build his confidence. That's me with orange vest on bay youngster just started under saddle, his brother is the black bay in the lead. Camera-woman is riding their mother mare.

  • Per Natural horse training today, carrying a rider in natural conditions actually strengthens joints, improves flexibilty & balance. Just don't do extended hard work like running in small circles. I trust Tom Curtin & my trainer who broke both our babies. This guy's older brother has suffered no ill effects from being started at 2 riding and driving.

Their mother, started at 3 by same trainer, is 21 now & has never been lame in 16 years. No demanding training exercises before 4 years old!

  • 2 ius way to young to be riden u shoul have waited till 3

  • You were right to start at two. Being an Arab X you shouldn't have to wait the required three years as for pure Arabs.

  • Isn't just 2 years a little young? There are a lot of bones, etc. that aren't fully grown yet at that age. (I know you are just walking, but I would personally give him two more years on the field. that way you can probably enjoy your horse for many more years up to an older age)
