That's interesting. So much of her material was knocks against her husband and marriage.

She called Johnny tell him that she got her own show. Carson hung up on her and never spoke to her again.

@caivan Finally, someone said it! I'm convinced her husband wrote her material. After he died, she stopped being funny.

I love Johnny Carson and he was a tough and still is a hard act to follow. Look at Leno & O'Brien fiasco! The Tonight show had good chemistry when Joan would be guest host but when they picked Leno, it lost it's sparkle.t I think Joan could have been the perfect successor to Johnny's Late night Throne. Since Johnny has passed, They should have kicked Conan and Leno out & given the job to Joan. How great would it be to see her finally as the Star of the Tonight Show!
