I guess the american democracy has been more like a kind of "demonarchy" (many kings possess their property on the country instead one king). Only owners are free. That's the only problem: neither capitalism or communism have been democracy but only fragments of it. In fact if it was mixed it would probably be a kind of real democracy with respect of private property and collective work. It's precisly because rights of workers haven't been respected that communism existed in this radical form.
