Four Minutes on the Job in IT doing SneakerNet.

Sometimes software in an organisation has to be deployed manually by going to each machine. This is what is people in the industry call the Sneaker Net method.

This is a timelapse at 15fps with a frame every 2 seconds of me Logging in, opening an exe setup via server unc path, going through the install wizard and finally restarting each pc. Twelve of... 4 minutes max from logon to restart.

The secret to swift manual installs is learning all the keyboard shortcuts possible and avoiding the mouse.

The software package was Ribbon Hero 2 by Microsoft. On Windows 7 Enterprise x64, logging onto a domain.
