@BAZZASTUONO the automobile is one of the few things that really cant advance much further since it was invented.I love the fact that you can throw all kinds of money into a vehicle, have all the options and something so primal in technology and inexpensive like a 7 can come up and kick your ass. I'm sure that the Audi R8 is comfortable and you get what you pay for...but for true excitement,it dont hold a candle to cars like a 7 on a racetrack.
Seems like the Audi driver was taking a much better line that the lotus guy. he was using all the road and crucially making his car as wide as possible. The Lotus guy could have backed off a little bit to gain some speed, taken a better line through two or three corners and should have done the audi guy on the outside. A risky but cool manouver that.
nice to see the old statesman show how hp per ton always prevails vs a heavy pig like the Audi. a $20k Caterham Super 7 with the Ford Focus engine will destroy this Audi....easily. Even a DIY Caterham basic would be on par with a classic 7....and you can do a DIY basic for $15k US where a R8 is $115,000-$150,000. function over form...thats where it is
Take the windscreen off for the track, they lose a surprising amount of time down the straights. My dad has an elfin clubman (Australian seven equivalent) and we just use a small wind deflector like a motorbike fearing, it stops the helmet lift you get without any windscreen whilst giving less drag. :)
WAY better!!!!
