My firestarter works great. You just have to get the hang of it.

Not a prototype. Anyone every involved in new product design knows that when you are going from design to manufacuturing large quantities it is always evolving. The second production run is always better and more efficient than the first and so on. Feedback is taken from all involved and you continue to evolve. Taking a snapshot at an evolving process at an instant in time is only a piece of history - and that my friend is all you have.

Obviously we are aware of materials available. We have already improved the blade with the new laser cut fully hardened version & continue to look at all options to continue to improve the Aurora. But in real world engineering you have to consider all issues from cost to production - very different from making one part in your kitchen. Our products are not static. You have taken a snapshot that is outdated. We do like feedback & make changes after considering all issues.

Well, I can't comment on the new blades. And I understand the problems involved in invading a competitive market, I really do.
However, I expected more for my money than a prototype.

The Aurora that you have is an older model. The new Aurora Fire Starters (ship the end of this month) have been dramatically improved. The knurl is much cleaner, o-ring mounting has been redesigned, the upper & lower ends of the unit are chamfered, the threading is smoother, and the keyring/lanyard hole is larger than the original units
Thank You,

I'll obviously have to see it to believe it, but your comment is appreciated.
My main problem with the Aurora is actually the blade: frankly, it's a cop-out. Tungsten carbide blades would be far superior, no?
