I've had this since it was recorded in 2008, but never uploaded. I searched for it on youtube and no one did either so I'm uploading it now.

  • at3:00 Craig Venter is making a very insightful delicate point (that which he cannot elaborate fully do to the dangers of insight going into the wrong hands) about an observation that some forms of life have defense mechanisms in place preventing the mixture of chromosomes, rules set in place preventing key forms of life from such combinations(RichardDawkins goes on a tangent from the previous conversation about nations walls)what causes it?will genetics show what is between information and noise

  • Venter mostly sounds like someone checking his mail while he's on the phone. "Yeah, invincible interplanetary commuting bacteria... Interspecies chromosome swapping... A third of our genome is viral contaminant... Viruses with human genes... Visible species, meh... We can print out the gene set for mammals...half the mammal genes are shared with other stuff anyway... Molecular taxonomy? Nah, Richard, bit of a naive paradigm these days...

  • AWESOME VIDS
