@buckaroomanreh The only jack ass I see posting here is you. This was a beautiful video showing a majority of Aussies and only a couple of BC's both dawgs are awesome, with your attitude I hope you don't own either. You don't seem to have the love for either breed you should to be graced with one.

omg to the jackass calling people jackasses- these are mostly aussies - guess you need to educate yourself I am an owner of 2 amazing Aussies - they are the best breed in the world - yes border collies are very similar but my opinion is Aussies are way better!! there are some gorgeous dogs in this video!! If you ever own one you will never get anything else!!! I LOVE MY AUSSIES!!

@Jeff185. Almost all those pups are Aussies.........just because a dog has a tail or slightly pointy ears doesn't mean he/she's not an Aussie. I did see a couple BCs, but only a couple.

What a great video!! I have an Aussie, Border Collie, & Black Lab. Last year I lost my Golden Retriever at 17 years old! They are all wonderful animals....all with their own unique personalities, behaviors & talents. (I love my Aussie the most & he's the smartest! shhh!! I won't ever tell or show it!!)

Loved your pictures! Both breeds are beautiful and hard-working - thanks for sharing.

I dont agree that border collies are better dogs. Ive found BC's to be flightier, but thats just been my personal experience. Between the two breeds, for an all around livestock dog, I prefer aussies.

Great PIcs Jeff. I can appreciate how hard it is to capture these types of images as I love to shoot herding dogs.

A beautiful tribute to my personal favorites... the Australian Shepherd.
And as far as a person calling most of these dogs Border Collies, they should be careful... Aussies do come in black and white.

Stunning video, it does a wonderful job showing these amazing dogs doing what they were born to do. I love my 2 aussies!

My friend's aussie tried to herd us when we were dancing, which was annoying. Another time, his small niece came to the door, and the dog push his nose against her chest. Seems like they should stay on the farm...
most of those pics were border collies jack ass
which are better dogs but not by much i love them both

buckaroomanrh,
I did mistakenly include two images of BCs in this slideshow. On that point you are correct. But, you are not correct in your insertion that "most of the pics were" Border Collies. And you are also mistaken in identifying me as a jack ass. My DNA is more closely associated with hominids.

i wonder how you train them to herd... or do they just learn it alone?

Getting a dog to properly herd livestock safely and effectively is a combination of instinct and training from someone who knows how to train. The dog and handler are a team trying to accomplish a specific task. The dog needs to know what you want done and how to do it. The dog doesn't know your capabilities or hasn't developed trust in you and your knowledge. Training a dog takes years of constant, calm, positive training. A dog usually does not reach its peak until about 4 years.
