I got to ride the Metro during my visit to DC back in August, I think it was the red line, but can't remember, we went from Union Station to Metro Center. Cool stuff it was my first time being on a subway.

I know this is a year-old post but some of the lines fly over the railroad lines. The Orange Line east of DC flies over the railroad whose right-of-way it shares. It's a great break from riding the Orange Line west of DC to see how the other half of the Orange Line lives.

Nice and the metro train looked like an Alstom

Nice Vid! I love those Gevo horns and the horns on the dark future sd70macs i was train watching on the A-line last night in Four Oaks NC and saw a trash train headed by a 70mac the horn was so piercing! Much louder than the GE locomotives.

That K5HL horn is flawless...it's a shame all of them don't sound like that, oh well, I guess variety's good. Awesome video, I just added some more to my page. Check 'em out when you get a chance! ;)
Nice your camera can zoom that far? What type of cam do you use?

Nice! I rode the Orange Line into D.C. on Saturday and saw a coal train go over me on the Alexandria Extension. There also was a CSX local that came onto the NEC after I got off that was led by a pair of SD70ACs. The Metro is a great way to catch D.C. area action.

Thanks, you're right about the Metro, you can most of the subway lines run along railroad rights of way. You can see the RFP and what is left of Potmac yards on the Blue/Yellow lines, the Green line goes along the Capital Sub for about 3 miles, the Orange line goes along the NEC and through Benning yard and the Red line runs along the Metropolitan sub and goes through Washington Union Station. Quite a tour for a couple of bucks.
