On Oct. 4, 2007, Ret. U.S. Army Colonel, and ex-U.S. State Department Diplomat, Ann Wright, and Ms. Medea Benjamin, the founder of Code Pink, held a press conference, in Washington, D.C., outside of the Embassy of Canada. Yesterday, they was barred from entering Canada by government officials at the border. They were informed that their names were on a "Criminal Database List," which was compiled by the FBI. As a result of misdemeanor convictions, in this country, arising out of nonviolent protest action against the Iraq War, the FBI had arbitrarily placed their names on its "Criminal Database List." The highly respected Peace Activists shared their views on the issue and how they intend to challenge the FBI's decision and to also meet, later in the afternoon, with officials at the Canadian Embassy in order to remedy this situation. • 1) It is our country, not yours, and we have any and every right to refuse you entry for any reason we wish. If you don't like it, tough. Canada being a sovereign nation, can deny you entry for whatever we want.

    2) To be on an 'FBI' watchlist, you had to have done more than just a couple protests. You yourself call them 'misdemeanors' which could include anything from violence, to public obstruction, to vandalism. I'm sorry, but I dont want you here either. Protest in your own country, not mine

  • Without troops, you cannot have a defense force for America. Joining the Marines in 2000 was the single greatest step I've taken in my life. I make a six-figure salary at the age of 25 and there's no way I'd be mature enough to be where I am today without the confidence and knowledge I gained from the Marines. Fighting in Iraq was a cultural and eye-opening experience too and I fully believe in the mission on a non-partisan level. I was there i lost friends and I can still say I support the war.

  • @dbo789 good points

  • more like code ineffective

  • We must apparently drop any and all laws that instruct law enforcement to detain anyone exercising their free speech rights.

There should not be a record kept (including implicitly via related arrest records) of people who hold particular viewpoints within their God given rights to free speech.

  • @dandi22 Canadians are fighting and dieing in afganistan.

  • She looks like a terrorist good thing we did not let her into Canada free

  • HAHAHA, pretty funny when Canada looks at your group and says " NAH, you fucking left leaning douchbags, are too liberal for us," HAHAHA! Bravo Canada!

  • @Bongofury361

When members of Code Pink chained and locked themselves to the Marine Recruitment office, I think they crossed the threshold of peaceful speech. They are lucky someone didn't splash them with gasoline while they barred the exit to the building. Where are the protests against the "War Criminal" Barrack Obama? Has he not killed innocents with Predator Drones?

  • Good, stay here you dumb cunt, the longer you stay here, the greater chance there is someone fucking killing your dumb ass.

  • @vinegaroon1 look Im trying to deal with a Communist Russian White supremist scum right now. His name is Luxinfernum
