(credit to Fav-Moments )The first episode revolved around teenager Julie Olson (first played by Charla Doherty; since 1968 the role has been played by Susan Seaforth Hayes) stealing a mink stole from Bartlett's Department Store. She lied about her last name, telling the store detective that her name was Julie Horton. As a result, her grandfather, Dr. Tom Horton (Macdonald Carey) and his son (Julie's uncle) Mickey (then John Clarke) were called down to the police station to resolve the matter. At home, Dr. Tom's wife Alice (Frances Reid) was lamenting the reality of all her children leaving her; her daughter Marie (at that time played by Maree Cheatham) was going to be married to Tony Merritt (Richard A. Colla).Days of our lives November 8 1965

  • @31417sal that's what i'm thinking ;D

  • Is that "Julie" supposed to be the "Julie" who is married to Doug?

  • @Shadzan Most likely the shows you see here are kinnescopes, most of which were in black and white. Some TV stations did not have direct network feeds and were sent filmed copies of TV shows (much cheaper than video tape). A common practice from the 1950s to the 1970s.

  • Why would the first episode be in colour, when the others are in black and white??

  • Wow, this show used to be normal at one time.

  • @AlbieGray Louse Shaffer OWNED the roles she played on Edge and Ryans. She was the first "split personality" story I ever saw--brilliantly done. You hated her and felt sorry for her at the same time. And her Rae, opposite such incredible talents like Helen Gallagher, Nancy Addison, was a revelation! Women's lib indeed. But as Stephanie the whole experience was sad and forgettable. She was killed by a serial killer (mercy killing, imo) .Heard Maree has a feud with the exec p du jour--Ellen??

  • Wow Epic

  • @SoapsGoldenAge Indeed. She played the wonder, slightly vixenish, sarcastic, but ALWAYS entertaining Stephanie from 1974-1984; and then she was replaced with Louise Shaffer until Stephanie died in 1986, a few months before the show itself ended.

  • When did SoapNet air the first episode of DAYS? They would never do that these days.

  • @rufus317 Simply amazing.
