Super Metroid - Mother Brain 2 - No damage

Mother Brain part 2 beaten without taking damage. Played in real time on Snes9x v1.43 rerecording.

Yes, technically I did take damage, but only during the scripted part of the fight where it's unavoidable. There is no known way to avoid Mother Brain's Hyper Beam without skipping the fight entirely by using glitches.

Angle up from the right side of the room and start unloading all your remaining super missiles into Mother Brain's head as soon as it turns orange, and once you run out use charged ice/wave/plasma beam shots (they're faster than using regular missiles). When Mother Brain shoots blue rings at you, jump straight up to dodge them; this is the only attack that you aren't able to screw attack through. Do the same when it shoots out a stream of fireballs from its hand. When it drops a bomb on the floor, wait until it's about to explode, jump and screw attack, and watch for a followup attack. If Mother Brain shoots rings at you, try to dodge them by space jumping over them or falling below them, but just screw attack through a fireball stream or a beam from its eye. After taking enough damage Mother Brain will charge up its hyper beam, marking the beginning of the scripted portion of the fight.

It really doesn't matter what you do during the scripted section, but make sure you have over 300 energy when you first get hit by the hyper beam or else it will kill you. After Mother Brain hits you with the hyper beam however many times it takes to bring you below 300 energy, the Metroid hatchling will do its thing and the fight will resume.

Jump as soon as you regain control of Samus because Mother Brain will usually attack with rings immediately. Now just blast its head with the hyper beam. It's really hard to die at this point since hitting Mother Brain with the hyper beam will interrupt any attack it's using. So if you hit it constantly that means it can't do anything but stomp around until it dies.

WTF happened? Did Samus disappeared by being damaged at 1:50?

@DoubleBarrelAdam That's from the frame rate being decimated from 60 fps to 30 fps for uploading to YouTube. When you get hit, Samus's sprite flashes between visible and invisible every other frame to simulate transparency. And the 60->30 fps conversion removes every other frame, so Samus either stays completely visible or completely invisible.

Mother Brain is such a cheater, being able to kill a Metroid without the ice beam or missiles. :o

That never happens in the NES version. Is there some certain way you can unlock it, or is that just somthing that was made up in the SNES version? Either way, it kicks ass!

@Desbreko this is not true if you play a non emulated version.... you can do like these certain jump patens and you wont get hit by it, sadly she just keeps shooting it though :P
