The interview comes from "The Genius of a Place", a feature-length documentary about the fragility of places of beauty. It contemplates the ways mankind contributes to the making of a place. It also reminds us of our power to shape its destiny and even destroy it, if we're not careful.

In today's world, every community -- big or small -- faces the challenge of balancing economic interests with preserving that place's beauty, livability and long-term sustainability.

No matter where they are, places of beauty are vulnerable. Either mankind takes care of them or they will be lost, forever.

"The Genius of a Place" is a co-production of OLO creative farm and Sarah Marder.

Funny that you use the word "wise". We chose to name our channel "wiseplaces" because that's what we're aiming for... communities in which people act in a wise way, taking care of the place itself and the creatures people (and other creatures) who live there.
