  • Best performance of this piece on YouTube! Not only superb singing, but an accompanist who milks the keyboard for all the emotion this song holds. And a good subdued tempo too.

    Bravo.

  • Definitely superb singing. I sang this a year ago as an alto. Love it.

  • Artistically superior to Cambridge singers, with vocals only slightly subordinate to them. Well performed.

  • I agree, this IS the most musically and artistically performed version of this piece...no marshmallow middled sopranos and the men didn't make me cringe at their entrance on the "Thou" with any dipthong. I love this piece....so sad.

  • Sang this song as an alto in middle school... We did awesome if I do say so myself :) Its a gorgeous song and is amazingly done by this choir..... If amazing is a strong enough word!

  • we did this song in high school. it was so hard, but i loved it!

  • Freshman 1st soprano for this song in winter.. <3 (:

  • when my dear friend passed away in high school her mom, our pianist, asked all of us in the concert choir to sing this at her funeral. it was one of the hardest things i have ever had to do. it was only a year and a half ago, it seems like so much longer. to this day this remains one of my favorite pieces that i ever sang in choir. thanks for posting. and great job to all of you in the choir, i can really hear the emotion this piece holds.

  • when one of my dear friends passed away in high school her mom, who was our pianist, asked us to sing this song at her daughters funeral. that was only a year and a half ago. it remains one of my favorite pieces that i ever sang in choir. this is a wonderful version with great quality. two thumbs up to all the people in this choir for doing a great job. thanks for posting this.

  • The video response is the same exact recording, just with a handheld video recorder. This recording is from the CD of that concert and has a better sound quality. I know this because I was in this choir during this concert. It's a beautiful piece and I'm happy I can still get on here and enjoy hearing my old friends singing this.
