Toronto, ONTARIO -- The organizers of what promises to be the largest public gathering during the upcoming G20 meetings -- the "People First!" rally at Queen's Park and a march through downtown Toronto streets -- held a news conference at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday June 16, in front of Gate 14 at 1 Blue Jays Way (the northwest corner of the Rogers Centre).
Ken Georgetti, president of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), and Sid Ryan, president of the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), talked about the "People First!" rally and why thousands of people are expected to join them in peaceful protest on June 26.
They were joined by Nathalie Des Rosiers, General Counsel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) which, along with the Canadian Labour Congress, sought a court injunction to prevent the use of sonic cannons (known as Long Range Acoustic Devices) during the G20 meetings.
