The MD sales tax increased by 20% not 1 penny. In 2007 we had 2 wars; the deficit was only 161 billion and headed to 0. Then the Democrats took over; the deficit went from ~ 400 billion in 2008 to over a trillion dollars for each year Obama was President. The major cause of the Deficit are the stimulus bills, which most Republicans were against and Senator Obama signed and President Obama forced on the American people. If Congress listen to the tea party’ there would have been no downgrade.
