  • Armenians must unite...we are ONE!

  • ha usak haaa!!!

You oversimplfy things, myself I am Chistian and consider myself Hamshetsi Hay, I am refreing to our people in Turkey who have had to hide their identity in some cases for centuries, some converted to Islam or were forced to convert to Islam centuries ago, while otheres were forced to convert as late as 100 years ago and having lived isloated lives. Accept them for who they are and dont be crtitical of them.

I consider all Hmashen people Muslims & Christians as our people

  • @HamshetsiDagha Then what does the whole premise of your argument rest on?! You're being really inconsistent here. Just before, your prior comments argued about how hard it has been for (NOTE:) the Hemsin. You did not say some, you referred to them as a collective. Now you counter that and say some of you had it easy. You are all individuals and all free to make your own choices. But if you choose Islam and embrace "Turkishness" you are not an Armenian and I will never consider you one. Never.

  • @DontNeedToKnow84 Not all Hemshin face the same difficulties, we for example always knew who we are, our people in Turkey faced very difficult issues and choices, thats why even today they are relucatant to discuss the old days.

  • @HamshetsiDagha I will read that. And I understand your difficult predicament and the difficult circumstances all Hemshin find themselves in. However keep in mind the last part of my comment:

The Armenians of 1915 were given a choice between Islam or death.

    .

    They chose death.

I read with interest a story about the a Lady who is known as the Mother of Hamshen Armnians in Germany, she was born in Rize and educate in Germany.

Google Alice Aliye Alt, and read the story. It will shed some light about the issues of the Hamshen in Tukey. In Russia and Gerogia Hamshetsi's like me know exactly who we are, we are Hamshetsi Hay, we know we are Armenia. In Turkey it was not so easy.

  • @HamshetsiDagha In this age of globalization, secularization, and frequent cross-cultural communications the situation is different. But in the past it was very much so, to be a Christian meant to be an Armenian (etc., etc.). That is why Christianity is so deeply rooted in Armenian identity and national consciousness.

    .

The Armenians of 1915 were given a choice between Islam or death.

    .

    They chose death.
