Genus ND Filter - lightenupandshoot

http://lightenupandshoot.com/ for the full post. The newest addition to the Backpacker Studio, a neutral density "ND" filter. ND filters reduce the amount of light entering the camera's sensor (like putting on a pair of sunglasses for your camera). Why would you want to do this? Imagine if you could shoot with an aperture of 1.8 in full sun or have a long shutter speed of 30 seconds in the middle of the day. The Genus ND affects the exposure from 2 -8 stops of light without changing color.

Thanks for the video. Any thoughts on whether or not lens flare is increased with the filter. A bunch of the shots have flare. Just wondering if that was intentional or if shooting into the sun is worse with the filter than without.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this and with and without lenshood. Of course at some level who cares...just shoot :>)

@mtapes I would say there is a decrease in flare (it's like putting on sunglasses for your lens). The shots that look like they have flare have an effect done in post (composite)

You know Mikey, I hope you don't mind me saying - you've done so much in helping so many people to improve their photography skills - but, it's amazing to see how your photography has improved too. Don't get me wrong, there was certainly nothing wrong with your skills in the beginning - I've been following LUAS since fairly close to day-one, and your pictures were exceptional back then. But, seeing your new stuff, you can really see how your work has evolved and gotten better and better.
