O.O! DEAR GOD! I suppose your screen can get screwed if you place a candle that close, don't you think so? I use my wiimote on my laptop too and I set 2 candles 2 inches from the mouse pad, not even near the screen and it still works you know :P actually, you can set the candle everywhere else (doesn't matter if you point your screen or not)

what flavor of ubuntu is it? kubuntu?
-
you may want to make an actual sensor bar
-
and what do you do if the candle falls over and spilling hot wax on stuff, not to mention BURN THE SCREEN! probably a good idea to use an IR LED...
-
why the hell would you put something that's 1000 degrees one inch from your screen? i hope it's insurance covers idiocy.
-
i would never put a candle that close to my laptop.

Oh ok I thought it was the other way around I thought that the wiimote emited a signal and the sensor bar picked It up and possitiond it on the screen.
What does the candle have 2 do with it?

The candle behaves as an infrared emisor. Usuarlly when you play with the wii, you have an IR emisor near the tv, the remote uses that lights as refernce for the movement.
Whitout candles the pointer whouldnt move.
